Charlotte Butler has joined the ranks at renewable energy company Engie UK as its director of corporate communications. She has also joined its Country Management Team.

She brings significant experience working in the energy and transport sectors; prior to joining, Butler worked as director of communications and engagement at FirstGroup's bus division between November 2023 and July 2025 – a promotion from her initial role as head of communications (from 2019).

There, she helped drive a turnaround in financial and sustainability performance. She also led corporate comms for the launch of a new brand and managed communications for multiple acquisitions.

She also spent almost 14 years working in the energy sector, with comms roles at Npower and RWE Generation SE. At Engie UK, she will specialise in strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.

“It’s great to be joining Engie UK as the business grows and builds on its decarbonisation ambitions,” says Butler. “There are exciting opportunities ahead to strengthen our presence as we shape the energy transition for people and communities.”

Miya Paolucci, Engie UK CEO, added: “We are very pleased to welcome Charlotte to Engie UK. Her long-standing experience across the energy and transport sectors will be a great addition to our executive team, supporting our external profile and our internal communications.”
