Emma Britton, who has worked in comms for more than 20 years, has been appointed head of internal communications at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and started her new role earlier this month.
She is part of a comms team headed up by Julia Corkey, executive director of communications and engagement.
In a post on LinkedIn, Britton said: “I'm delighted to be part of the communications and engagement team.” She added that she is “proud to be part of the independent regulator that protects the public and inspires confidence in the nursing and midwifery professions”.
Britton describes herself on her LinkedIn profile as “an authentic leader” who brings “credibility and experience to communications teams”.
She has joined the NMC after more than 12 years at Serco, where she spent a decade as head of internal comms before being promoted to head of comms last year. Other past roles include deputy head of communications and consultation at Hackney Council.
Britton started her career in journalism, working for the Daily and Sunday Mirror for three years before switching to comms when she joined the BT Group as a corporate comms specialist in 2005.
