Jonathan Lima-Matthews has been appointed as a vice president in the EMEA government relations team at JPMorgan Chase.
He joins the team from UK Finance, where he had been head of public affairs since May 2023.
At JPMorgan Chase, he will help shape policy and advocacy strategies across the region. He will monitor UK and EU political, policy and regulatory developments and develop and implement advocacy strategies on policy, legislative and regulatory proposals.
In a post on LinkedIn, he said: “It’s been a privilege working at the centre of UK financial services for close to five years. There are too many moments to include here, but a few stick in the mind. Working in partnership with government and parliament, alongside expert colleagues, to improve legislation for our members and their customers. Delivering Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves’s economic growth speech in 2022, which became their priority mission in government (and one the sector is well poised to enable through the sector strategy). And seeing the people I’ve been fortunate enough to hire, grow and develop into public affairs pros.”
Lima-Matthews first joined UK Finance in 2021 as an interim policy manager, following a short stint at Rail Delivery Group. He then worked as public affairs manager for two years before becoming head of public affairs. In 2024, he embarked on a sabbatical to work on the Labour Party’s general election campaign.
