Sorrelle Harper has been appointed as the first corporate affairs director at Calisen Group, the UK’s largest smart meter provider.
She joins from Sharpener Communications – a consultancy she founded after leaving her role as director of communications at KPMG UK in 2017 – which specialises in advising CEOs and boards on corporate affairs growth and risk strategies, typically in M&A situations or during reputational crises.
Sorrelle began her career in PR in 2001 at Penrose Financial, now part of MHP Mischief. Her CV also includes roles at Deloitte and the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
The news follows the recent appointment of two non-executive directors to the board of Calisen: Alistair Phillips-Davies CBE, former CEO of SSE, and Matthew Timms, former chief digital and technology officer at E.ON.
Former managing director of British Gas Energy Catherine O’Kelly joined the smart meter company as CEO in October this year. She commented: “Harper is an impressive expert in her field, and we are thrilled to have someone of her calibre join our leadership team. She has a strong market network – a reflection of her enthusiasm for corralling advocacy groups and forging strategic partnerships that effect change. Her energy and passion for getting stuck in and representing businesses with high growth ambitions and an appetite to solve big societal issues in complex markets will be a real boost.”
