Rebecca Marmot has stepped down from her role as chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer at Unilever, after an almost 20-year career at the company.

Initially announcing her decision to leave in July this year, Marmot has now handed over the reins to Michael Stewart, who previously held the role of global leader for corporate affairs and communications at consultancy giant PwC.

In a post on LinkedIn, she wrote: “I feel excited about the future, but it’s also been a wrench to leave. Leading Unilever’s external engagement and sustainability work globally has been absolutely brilliant.

“Unilever is a fantastic company with incredible people. I’m proud to have been a part of it for so long. I feel hugely grateful and full of energy and optimism.

“Before leaving, I welcomed on board and handed over the reins to the wonderful Michael Stewart. I’ll be cheering him and the amazing team on as I navigate my next adventure.”

Marmot joined Unilever in 2007 as global vice president, leading the newly merged global sustainability, global advocacy and policy team and global partnerships team. In 2019 she became the company’s chief sustainability officer, before taking on the chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer role in January this year.
