Ruari Grant has been appointed to the newly created role of head of policy and external affairs at TPT. He has joined from trade body Pensions UK, where he was head of defined contribution (DC) and master trust.

Grant is responsible for defining and leading the firm’s policy direction and supporting its executive board in delivering its policy objectives, and started his new role on 1 October.

He will also work to “develop TPT’s perspective on pensions industry issues and the regulatory landscape through formal engagement with government bodies and influential pensions organisations”, according to the company.

Grant reports to Nicholas Clapp, chief commercial officer at TPT, who said: “He will doubtless be a valuable addition to the team, bringing a strong basis in pensions policy.”

Clapp added: “As we continue to expand our offerings for consolidation, having a clearly defined strategy and methodology will be integral to successfully bringing these products to market – something Ruari will be key to delivering.”

Grant started out as an IT graduate trainee at Standard Life Aberdeen and spent seven years at the company, where he rose to become senior public affairs associate.

He joined Pensions UK as senior policy lead, DC, master trust and standards in 2021, and earlier this year became its head of DC and master trust.

Commenting on his new role, Grant said: “I’m very excited to join TPT and play a role in delivering its series of new and innovative products”. He added that he is looking forward to helping his colleagues “navigate the pensions landscape at a time when policy is fast-evolving”.
