Flood Re, the reinsurance scheme for people with homes at risk of flooding, has appointed Joe Moor to the newly created role of corporate affairs lead.
Moor has joined from Hanbury, where he was a director in the agency’s public affairs team, and started his new role this week.
He is part of a six-strong team headed up by Kelly Ostler-Coyle, director of corporate affairs.
Helping manage and enhance Flood Re’s relationships with a range of stakeholders, from government and regulators to industry and the media, are among his initial priorities.
Announcing his new job, in a post on LinkedIn earlier this week, he said: “Flood Re plays a vital role in helping to make home insurance affordable for households at risk of flooding, while supporting the UK’s transition to greater climate resilience.”
Moor added he is “really looking forward to contributing to Flood Re’s important mission and working with colleagues and partners across the insurance industry, government, and beyond”.
Prior to joining Hanbury in 2019, Moor was director of legislative affairs at Number 10. Other previous roles include head of legislative affairs at the Cicero Group, and senior account manager at Grayling. Earlier in his career Moor spent six years working for Conservative MP Sir Simon Burns MP, during which time he progressed from researcher to senior parliamentary assistant.
Commenting on his new role, he told In.Comms: “I wanted to build on my experience and take on a role with a strong social purpose.”
Moor added: “Joining Flood Re offers the chance to contribute directly to one of the UK’s biggest climate resilience challenges, and Flood Re’s purpose, to make the flood cover part of household insurance policies more affordable and accessible, really resonates with me.”
