Mars Petcare corporate affairs lead moves to Royal Canin

The petcare brand has appointed a new global external comms lead for purpose and sustainability.

Former global people and organisation communications lead for Mars Petcare Ishtar Schneider has moved to subsidiary brand Royal Canin as global external communications lead (purpose and sustainability).

Schneider took up the role at the start of the year replacing Laureline Malineau and reporting to Kelly Quirke director, global corporate communications, Royal Canin.

In her new role, she will be working in partnership with regional and local corporate affairs teams to “bring the Royal Canin brand to life”, alongside work on purpose and sustainability efforts externally with a focus on earned media.

Schneider will also continue to support the Mars, Incorporated corporate affairs leadership team with efforts to future-proof the function’s capabilities.

Schneider told In.Comms: “I’ve loved the opportunity to partner with our global people and organisation function over the past several years to deliver on our key priorities across Mars Petcare, a business of more than 100k associates. My background has always been in science and health-focused comms for pets and people which is why moving to Royal Canin excited me.”

She joined Mars in August 2023 as global people and organisation comms lead. Prior to that she worked at global comms firm Edelman for just over five years. She started at the company as an account director (health) in May 2018, progressing to associate director in February 2020 before becoming a director in April 2022.

She added: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my perspective and learnings to this role and grateful for the opportunity to deepen my understanding in another part of our business.”

Schneider will continue her voluntary role at the PRCA, where she was elected as chair of the equity inclusion advisory board. She has been involved with the PRCA for seven years, originally joining as a council member in January 2019. She also became co-chair of the health group, holding that role from July 2019 until December 2023.
