Gym King brings PR in-house with new hire

The fashion brand has recruited its first communications manager.

Olivia Ball has left Evri, where she worked in the corporate communications team, to become communications manager at performance fashion brand Gym King.

Prior to joining Evri last year, Ball was PR and brand manager at The Property Buying Company, and content marketing and PR executive at eCommerce agency Ayko.

She started her new role earlier this month and reports to Charlotte Hutton, head of brand at Gym King. Ball is part of a 12-strong brand team.

Commenting on the reason for moving from Evri to Gym King, she told In.Comms: “I wanted to transition from corporate communications to a more dynamic, consumer-facing brand environment.”

Ball was attracted by the “opportunity to work closely with a lifestyle and fashion brand, where I could be involved in shaping creative campaigns, engaging with the media, and showcasing exciting product launches.”

She added: “It’s a chance to combine my communications expertise with a sector I’m passionate about, and to have a tangible impact on brand growth and storytelling.”

Her main focus is to “reintroduce the brand to key fashion media and industry titles, highlighting our strong product portfolio.”

The company has “several significant launches coming up” and her goal “is to showcase the impressive growth of Gym King and communicate the strategic direction we’re taking as a brand moving forward.”

Ball explained that bringing PR in-house “means we have someone who’s immersed in the brand day to day, having eyes on everything as it happens”. She added: “With the pace we’re moving at, it’s important to have that agility and constant visibility, so we can react quickly, grab opportunities, and make sure our storytelling keeps up with the brand’s momentum.”
